Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about NC Data's AI-powered corporate intelligence platform.

🚀 Getting Started

NC Data is a browser-based investigation workspace for corporate research, due diligence, and compliance. At its core is the Document Canvas — a visual board where you drag documents, search results, AI analyses, timelines, and entity graphs onto a single surface and connect them as you build your case. Chat with your documents using RAG, pivot from a document to a company to its officers through integrated registries (Spanish BORME, UK Companies House, OpenSanctions, and more), and keep everything local to your device.
Simply visit analysis.ncdata.eu to access the platform. You can start using basic features immediately, with premium features available through our subscription plans.
NC Data is designed for:
  • Corporate researchers analyzing business relationships
  • Compliance professionals monitoring sanctions and regulations
  • Due diligence specialists investigating companies
  • Legal professionals researching corporate structures
  • Business analysts tracking market intelligence
  • Individual researchers needing professional-grade tools

⚡ Features & Capabilities

NC Data's document ingestion supports:
  • Documents: PDF, Word (DOCX), Excel (XLSX), plain text, Markdown
  • Structured data: CSV files
  • Images: JPG, PNG, GIF, WEBP with OCR text extraction
  • Audio & video: MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, FLAC, OGG, WEBM, AIFF — transcribed directly by NC Data using Google Gemini (Premium Plus, with a monthly allowance)
PDFs carry page-level provenance, so every citation in your AI chat links back to the exact page in the source document.
NC Data connects to 330+ million companies through multiple integrated registries and databases:
  • Spain: BORME (company registry) with full officer histories, BOE (official bulletin) for sanctions, insolvencies, and judicial edicts
  • United Kingdom: Companies House with officers, Persons with Significant Control, and filing history
  • France, Belgium, Switzerland, Italy: national corporate registries
  • Sanctions & watchlists: OpenSanctions coverage across 200+ jurisdictions (sanctions, PEPs, crime lists)
  • Leaks: ICIJ Offshore Leaks (Panama Papers, Paradise Papers, Pandora Papers)
  • EU transparency: EU lobbying register, Congreso (Spanish parliament) initiatives
Most registries are accessed on a pay-per-use basis, with bundled credits included in paid plans.
NC Data gives you access to 300+ frontier AI models through OpenRouter, managed through the platform so you don't need to juggle API keys from multiple providers:
  • Anthropic: Latest Claude models for reasoning, long-context analysis, and report drafting
  • OpenAI: GPT family for structured analysis and extraction
  • Google: Gemini models for multimodal tasks and long-context document review
  • Meta & Mistral: Open-weight models for specialized and European workloads
  • Custom endpoints: Premium Plus users can additionally point NC Data at self-hosted or OpenAI-compatible endpoints for full control over the inference path
AI usage is billed on a pay-per-use basis from pre-paid credits, so your cost is always transparent and you only pay for the tokens you actually consume.
Yes. NC Data includes multiple ways to visualize and export your investigation:
  • Assisted reports: Jurisdiction-aware one-click report generation (Spain, UK, France, and more) from the findings you've collected on the canvas
  • Network graphs: Visualize company ownership, shared officers, and interlocking directorates directly on the canvas
  • Timeline views: Extracted events arranged chronologically with filtering by category and significance
  • Financial visualizations: Charts and analyses generated from financial documents you ingest
  • Export: PDF reports, HTML summaries, and structured data exports of your findings, entities, and case journal

🗂️ Workspace & Investigation Tools

The Document Canvas is NC Data's core workspace — a visual, node-based board where you arrange your investigation materials. Drag documents, search results, entity graphs, timelines, financial charts, and AI analyses onto the canvas and connect them as you build your case. It's the feature that makes NC Data fundamentally different from a chat-with-your-documents tool: you can see your entire investigation at once, trace how you got to every conclusion, and pivot between sources without losing context.
Yes. The Case Manager lets you create unlimited case workspaces, each with its own documents, entity registry, findings, timeline, and journal. Switch between cases without losing state, and keep unrelated investigations fully isolated.
NC Data automatically extracts people and companies from your documents, search results, and registry lookups, then matches them against an entity registry using fuzzy matching (Levenshtein distance, token overlap, abbreviation handling, identifier bonuses). When a match is found, the two records are suggested for merge with full provenance. A resolved entity carries all its aliases, identifiers (date of birth, nationality, company number, jurisdiction), and a complete source trail showing where each fact came from.
Yes. NC Data automatically extracts time-stamped events from your documents using an LLM-based extraction pipeline, then displays them in a horizontal Timeline view with filters for date range, event category, and significance. You can use the time slider to temporally filter nodes on the canvas — hiding everything that happened before or after a given date — to analyze what was known when.
Yes. The Findings system lets you capture key discoveries as first-class objects with sources, severity levels, and commentary. One click then generates an assisted report from your findings, using a jurisdiction-aware template (Spain, UK, France, and more) that pulls in appropriate due diligence guidance for the target country. Export as PDF or HTML.

🛡️ Security & Privacy

Security is our top priority:
  • Local-first architecture: Your full document collection stays in your browser's local storage — NC Data does not upload your documents to our servers
  • Minimal AI exposure: When you ask the AI a question, only the relevant retrieved chunks (not your full documents) are sent to the inference endpoint over encrypted HTTPS
  • Encrypted sync (optional): If you enable cross-device sync on Premium Plus, data is encrypted on your device before upload using zero-knowledge architecture
  • No server-side data retention: NC Data does not store or inspect your documents, queries, or AI responses on its servers
  • Custom inference endpoints: Premium Plus users who need to keep prompts entirely within their own infrastructure can point NC Data at a self-hosted LLM endpoint
Your data is stored locally on your device using advanced browser storage technologies. For synchronization across devices, we use encrypted cloud storage with zero-knowledge architecture, meaning we cannot access your data even if we wanted to.
While your documents are stored locally for security, NC Data requires an internet connection for most functionality. AI analysis, model access, database searches, and real-time updates all require connectivity. Basic document viewing may work offline, but the platform is designed as an online service.
